Additional information:
The 90-hectare area, including its buildings, comprises a festival and congress center, exhibition spaces, a planetarium, and the David Lynch film studio (EC1 East). Since June 2008, it has been home to the Se-ma-for film studio and the Museum of Fairy Tales. The revitalization of the former power plant, an area of significant architectural value, aimed to repurpose the historical buildings for new cultural and artistic functions. The restoration also aimed to reintroduce architectural order and make previously unusable areas accessible for public use.
The project planning focused on creating public spaces functionally linked to external urban areas, while maintaining the unique post-industrial character of the revitalized area. After the conservation work, open spaces were made available for use, including exposed pools from decommissioned cooling towers.
The investment stimulated economic and social revitalization of the degraded areas by creating an infrastructure base for new institutions. The creation of such a modern center, with a rich program of events, festivals, and exhibitions, enhanced the tourist appeal of Łódź.
