Additional information: 

An area of 90 ha together with the facilities forms, among other things, a festival and congress centre, exhibition spaces, a planetarium and David Lynch’s film studio (EC1 East). Since June 2008, the Se-ma-for film studio and the Museum of Fairy Tales have been located here. The revitalisation of the architecturally valuable area of the former power plant aims to give the historical facilities new cultural and artistic functions. The reconstruction also aims to restore architectural order and make available to the city’s residents zones whose technical condition previously precluded their public use.
The planning task was to create a public space enabling functional links with external urban spaces. The unique post-industrial character of the revitalised area was preserved and, after conservation works, open spaces were made available for use, including the uncovered pools of the no-longer-existing cooling towers.
The investment led to economic and social revival in degraded areas by creating an infrastructure base for new institutions. Creating such a modern centre with a rich offer of events, festivals and exhibitions increased the tourist attractiveness of Łódź.
